The University of Mumbai will release the first merit list for Undergraduate (UG) admissions 2026 today, May 26, for the 2026-27 academic session. Students who applied for admission to various affiliated and autonomous colleges under the university will be able to check the merit list from 11 am onwards.Candidates can access the merit list through the official website, mu.ac.in, and also on the websites of their respective colleges.The admission process is being conducted for several undergraduate courses, including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes.

Students can follow these simple steps to download the merit list:
- Visit the official website of Mumbai University at mu.ac.in
- Open the Undergraduate admission portal
- Click on the link for the first merit list 2026
- Select the college and course applied for
- Enter login details, if required
- The merit list will appear on the screen
- Download and save it for future reference
Admission process after merit list release
Students whose names appear in the first merit list will have to complete document verification and fee payment between May 27 and May 29 to confirm their admission.The university has said that admissions will be granted based on marks obtained in the Class 12 examination. As per the admission rules, marks of the “best five” subjects will be considered while preparing merit rankings and cut-offs.After the completion of the first round of admissions, the university will release further merit lists depending on the number of vacant seats.According to the schedule, the second merit list will be released on May 30, while the third merit list is scheduled to be published on June 4.Classes for the new academic session will begin from June 13, 2026.
UG admission deadline was extended
Mumbai University had earlier extended the undergraduate admission registration deadline till May 23 after revising its admission schedule.The entire admission process is being conducted through a centralised online portal, allowing students to apply for multiple colleges and courses under the university through a single platform.
PG admissions also underway
Meanwhile, the university is also accepting applications for various postgraduate programmes, including one-year Postgraduate Diploma courses, two-year Postgraduate programmes, Fourth Year Honours courses, and Fourth Year Honours with Research programmes.The registration process for PG admissions started on May 9 and will continue till May 30, 2026, till 11:59 pm.Interested students can apply online through the official admission portal at muadmission.samarth.edu.in.
