Four people dead after chlorine gas leak at Dhanbad plant; Victims were scavenging for scrap iron

Dhanbad: The death toll in the chlorine gas leak at a defunct captive power plant under Munidih outpost in Dhanbad district rose to four on Monday, after another body was recovered from a forested area on the eastern side of the plant premises. The deceased was identified as Wasim Ansari, 35, a resident of Kenduadih Rajput Basti.Three men — Sanjay Yadav, 24, Azharuddin Ansari, 26, and Anand Tamrakar, 23 — had died due to exposure to the toxic gas on Sunday. The gas leak occurred early on Sunday when around a dozen people had allegedly entered the defunct plant with the intention of stealing scrap iron.
