Hazaribag: The district administration would conduct a survey of 796.17 acres of ‘Khas Mahal’ plots spread across 22 mouzas under the Hazaribag Khas Mahal area from June 8 to July 8. The survey would assess the on-ground status of lease renewal, mutation, transfer, change of purpose, resumption, and encroachment related to the ‘Khas Mahal’ land, officials said.The decision was taken during the Saturday meeting chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) Hemant Sati.Khas Mahal land is govt-owned land leased for residential, commercial, or other approved purposes. While the govt retains ownership, leaseholders must follow prescribed conditions on use, transfer, and renewal. Leases are typically granted for fixed periods, including 30-year terms, after which renewal is required under govt rules and applicable provisions. The administration periodically reviews such lands to ensure compliance and prevent unauthorised occupation.Sati said, “The exercise is intended to gather factual information and enable action based on findings. The survey aims to collect factual information on the ground and ensure necessary action based on the findings.”“For smooth execution, five-member teams have been formed. Each team will include one officer, one revenue sub-inspector, one amin, one photographer and one chowkidar. The teams will carry out physical verification of sites and examine relevant records during the survey period,” he said.The district administration appealed to residents on Khas Mahal plots to remain present during verification and provide required information, saying cooperation will help update land records and streamline administrative procedures.Further steps would be taken “as per rules” based on the facts found during the survey, he added.
