Bokaro: At least 20 people were injured after the railing of a building’s balcony collapsed during a pre-wedding ritual in Giridih village on Wednesday. Six of them were critically injured in the incident. The incident took place in Maharaydih village under Herodih police station limits.The wedding procession had arrived from Dhotha village in Jamua block at the house of Shamsher Alam for his daughter’s marriage. ‘Dwar Lagai’ ritual was underway before Nikah, and a large crowd had gathered. Many climbed onto an extended balcony and leaned against the railing to get a better view of the proceedings. As the number of people on the balcony grew, it gave way and came crashing down. Deori circle officer Shyamlal Manjhi said the balcony and railing appeared to be structurally weak.
