Garhwa/Koderma: A woman was among two killed in lightning strikes in two separate places in Garhwa district on Saturday, police said.Thirty-year-old Reena Devi died when a bolt of lightning struck her while she took shelter under a mahua tree from thunderstorm and rain in Sundi villager under Kharondhi police station limits.Ram Avtar Pal, 65, a shepherd from Mukundpur village under Ketar police station limits was killed when lightning hit while he was grazing his sheep, police said. “The bodies have been sent to Garhwa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination,” said a police officer.In another incident, a 10-year-old boy was killed while a 13-year-old suffered burn injuries in a lightning strike while plucking berries at Ghoskedih village along the border of Koderma and Giridih districts on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Abhineet Kumar, son of Prakash Kumar Yadav, a farmer. Abhineet studied in Class 7 at the village school and had two brothers and two sisters. The injured was identified as Satish Yadav, son of Mahesh Yadav.Abhineet’s mother, Munni Devi, said his son had just returned home from school in afternoon. “He did not even change his school uniform before heading out with his friends to gather fruit from a nearby tree. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the area, severely injuring both Abhineet and Satish,” she said.Family members rushed to the spot and shifted them to the community health centre at Markachho in Koderma. While Satish’s condition improved after treatment, Abhineet turned critical and was referred him to Sadar hospital in Koderma, where he died.
