New RU registrar assumes office

Dr Raj Kumar Sharma has taken over as the new registrar (in-charge) of Ranchi University. He was earlier posted as principal of Doranda College. Hours after joining, he gave away appointment letters to eight aspirants who were waiting for jobs on compassionate grounds for a long time. The initiative for appointment was taken by the RU vice-chancellor, professor Saroj Sharma.Induction event at IIM RanchiThe induction programme underway at Indian Institute of Management Ranchi witnessed a session on the future of artificial intelligence and business analytics. Senior associate dean at Georgetown University professor Sudipta Dasmohapatra emphasised adaptability, continuous learning, and ethical decision-making. She also stressed the need for future managers to combine strong functional knowledge with human-centric skills such as communication, collaboration, negotiation and storytelling.Gender equality vital for sustainable development: Professor Diana FoxEmphasising that gender equality is fundamental to sustainable development, economic progress and effective governance, Diana Fox of Bridgewater State University, USA, delivered a thought-provoking lecture at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Monday. The lecture, titled “Breaking barriers, Building inclusive spaces: Challenges and strategies to address global gender disparities through Decolonial feminist partnerships,” Prof Fox underlined that addressing global gender disparities requires inclusive partnerships, equitable policies and community-driven solutions. Dean (corporate communications) Rajni Singh highlighted the significance of the event and stressed the growing relevance of discussions on gender justice.Anti-drug campaign at engineering collegeRamgarh Engineering College in Murubanda village in Ramgarh district on Tuesday organised an anti-drug awareness programme at the language lab in cooperation with the institution’s innovation council (IIC). The event, conducted under the theme “Say no to drugs – choose health, choose life”, aimed to create awareness among students about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
