Ranchi: Ahead of the holy month of Shravan, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has begun preparations to ensure a clean, secure, and hassle-free environment for the millions of devotees expected to visit the historic Pahari Mandir.Municipal commissioner Sushant Gaurav, during a review meeting held on Saturday, asked the civic body officials to modernise infrastructure and scale up civic amenities around the shrine area.As part of the immediate action plan, a special sanitation drive is being initiated across Pahari Mandir and its adjacent localities. “Directions have been issued to the officials o clear clogged drains, remove silt, and cover all open drains with concrete slabs on a priority basis,” the RMC said in a statement.Designated travel routes for devotees would be cleared of encroachments to facilitate the seamless movement of pilgrims. Also, hefty fines and strict penalties would be imposed on those parking commercial goods vehicles, trucks, or auto-rickshaws, and loading or unloading goods at unauthorised places within the temple zone. The corporation is identifying and activating additional parking sites to streamline vehicular movement to prevent traffic congestion.The civic body has ordered the immediate repair of all non-functional streetlights and pruning of dangling tree branches along the roadsides. The Pahari Mandir premises will also be transformed into a strict plastic-free zone. Special inspection teams will carry out regular raids to curb the use, storage, and sale of plastic bags and single-use plastics, with severe punitive action reserved for any violators.
