Dumka: St. Xavier’s College, Dumka, has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The decision was approved during the recent UGC meeting held on March 19, 2026, marking a historic milestone for the region’s academic landscape.The letter issued to this effect by UGC joint secretary Dr R. Manoj Kumar stated that the college, affiliated to SKMU, will avail autonomous status for a period of five years, from the academic session 2026–27 to 2030–31.The UGC has instructed the SKMU administration to issue a formal notification within a month.
