BOKARO: A 17-year-old girl climbed a 100-foot mobile tower in Jharkhand’s Bokaro on Tuesday and demanded the release of her boyfriend, who is currently in judicial custody, according to news agency PTI.The incident took place in Dhendhe village under the Gomia area. The girl’s 22-year-old boyfriend was arrested a few days ago on charges of abducting her after her mother lodged a complaint with the police.“The girl climbed the tower located in Dhendhe village in Gomia this morning and is threatening to jump if her demand is not met. She hails from adjoining Lalpania area,” Gomia police station officer-in-charge Prafful Kumar Mahto said.Police and local officials rushed to the spot and began efforts to persuade her to come down safely.Lalpania police station in-charge Jaiprakash Ekka said the girl’s mother had filed a complaint on June 18, alleging that the man had abducted her daughter.Following the complaint, police traced the couple to the Sukhdeo Nagar area of Ranchi. The girl was rescued, while the accused was arrested and later sent to judicial custody by a court.The man, a resident of Ranchi, is currently lodged in Tenughat jail, police said.
