SIR-2026: 74.73% voters mapped in Dhanbad, draft roll due Aug 5, 2026

Dhanbad: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the electoral roll has gathered momentum in Dhanbad district, with 74.73% per cent of voters successfully mapped so far. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan said that out of the district’s total 21,15,997 registered voters, mapping of 15,81,364 electors was completed, while 5,34,633 voters are yet to be mapped.The highest progress was recorded in Tundi Assembly constituency with 85.79% mapping, followed by Nirsa (85.04%), Sindri (83.34%), Baghmara (80.46%), Jharia (63.64%), and Dhanbad (56.67%). During the exercise, discrepancies were identified in 3,73,407 voter records across the six Assembly segments.Highlighting the objectives, the DC said, “EC directed to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll. Voters submitting their enumeration forms during the revision period will be included in the draft electoral roll, irrespective of whether their records have been mapped earlier.“However, names of voters who refused to sign, or those listed as absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate, will not be included in the draft roll. He clarified that no voter’s name would be deleted without giving an opportunity for hearing. A two-level appeal mechanism has also been provided for affected individuals.Booth-level officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification from June 30 to July 29. Rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by July 29.The draft electoral roll will be published on Aug 5, while claims and objections can be filed between Aug 5 and Sept 4. Disposal of claims and objections will continue until Oct 3, and the final electoral roll will be published on Oct 7, 2026.
