Bokaro: The Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Wednesday launched an anti-encroachment drive in the Checkpost vegetable market area, Gujarat Colony Moad, and Subhash Chowk to ease traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement for commuters in busy commercial areas, officials said.Mayor Bholu Paswan, who supervised the operation, said, “Acting on repeated complaints received from residents about traffic snarls and drainage issues caused by encroachments, the municipal corporation has decided to conduct regular drives.”“A new area will be covered every Wednesday. Checkpost area was cleared of illegal settlers today and Jodhadih Moad will be cleared next Wednesday,” he added.Clearing encroachments has become necessary to address urban area management challenges and prepare the city for the monsoon. The exercise would also help restore and clean major drainage channels.“Blocked drains often lead to waterlogging on roads, which further blocks smaller sewerage lines. Removing encroachments will help improve the entire drainage system,” the mayor said.
