Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum SSP Ehtesham Waquarib has directed officers in-charge of police stations to summon listed history-sheeters and criminal elements, mark attendance and warn them against criminal activity.He ordered anti-crime drives to seize illegal firearms, knives and prohibited weapons. Patrol teams, PCR vans and tango mobile units were directed to carry out round-the-clock patrolling, with surveillance at banks, ATMs, financial institutions, jewellery shops and petrol pumps.Waquarib warned that illegal gambling, lottery, drug trade or sand mining would make the OCs directly responsible, inviting departmental action. Prioritising student and women’s safety, he instructed police stations to conduct drives around schools, colleges and parks to prevent harassment and chain snatching.On traffic enforcement, he told personnel not to harass citizens unnecessarily, but build awareness and encourage voluntary compliance.Calling for humane policing, he directed officers to be courteous with complainants. “They should be offered a seat and cold drinking water, and their grievances should be heard patiently. Necessary legal action should be taken promptly to ensure speedy redress of their complaints,” he told officers.
