Jharkhand CEO releases animation video to guide voters on SIR forms
BLOs carry out voter verification in Ranchi

Ranchi: For the benefit of existing electors and to ensure enumeration under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is completed at the earliest, the office of CEO (chief electoral officer) has prepared an animation video in English and Hindi explaining how to fill up the form. The CEO said that the video was viewed by more than 1 lakh users on social media on Sunday. The video demonstrates the process step by step, beginning with fixing a coloured photograph and ending with signing the form. The aim is to make the exercise easier for voters, as enumeration forms are being filled for the first time since 2003.CEO K Ravi Kumar said the video is meant to educate and assist citizens, and not to suggest voters lack awareness. “Voters are filling enumeration forms for the first time after two decades and may not be familiar with the format,” Kumar told TOI on Sunday.“For unlettered voters, BLOs will provide help. Volunteers have been appointed to help poor, unlettered, ST, SC and other vulnerable sections,” he said, adding that the video has been prepared for mass awareness. In Jharkhand, the SIR process began on June 30 with distribution of enumeration forms. Kumar said that, on average, his office has received 700 enquiries since the exercise was announced. A total of 104 dedicated personnel are present to address the issues, irrespective of whether they are received through calls or mails.Till 6 pm on Sunday, official data shows that 91,62,749 enumeration forms were distributed, while 9,34,998 were digitised. The state has over 2.64 crore electors. In a related development, Congress held a review meeting on Sunday to assess visits by members across Jharkhand and strengthen implementation of SIR. State party in-charge K Raju urged district Congress committee presidents, district in-charges, assembly constituency in-charges, district vice-presidents and secretaries to coordinate with booth level agents, conduct door-to-door visits and ensure enumeration forms are filled correctly. The party has deployed around 20,000 trained BLAs to assist voters. State Congress chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh directed to hold gram panchayat meetings on the 15th of every month to ensure no eligible voter is excluded.(with inputs from Dhrubajyoti Malakar)
