Ranchi: Accusing laxities and irregularities in the functioning of Jharkhand Public Services Commission (JPSC), the BJP on Monday urged the state govt to recommend a CBI probe into all the examinations conducted by the commission recently. The saffron party’s claims came two days after the JPSC announced the results of its 14th preliminary civil services examination. The mains are scheduled for July 19.A total of 1,772 aspirants qualified in the prelims. The exam is for 103 posts, including 28 deputy collectors, 42 deputy superintendents of police, two deputy commandants, four probationary officers, three assistant directors in the women, child development and social security department, two assistant registrars in the agriculture, animal husbandry and cooperative department, 10 assistant town commissioners and special officers, two jail superintendents and 10 assistant directors-cum-district public relations officers.Addressing the media, BJP’s chief spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said, “The prelims results were declared without publication of cut-off marks. Not only this, the result also did not have signatures of all JPSC members, which is a norm, raising questions over the legitimacy of the merit list. JPSC has turned every exam into a mockery.”Notably, 144 is the qualifying marks out of 200 in the prelims. Citing a case, he said, “One candidate secured 48 marks out of 100 in the first paper. To qualify, had to score a minimum of 97 out of 100 in the second paper, which experts aware of JPSC exams maintain is impossible to get. Still, this candidate has made it to the successful list. This is just an example of illogical results.”Congress termed BJP’s allegations baseless. Party spokesperson Rishikesh Singh said, “BJP’s allegations are baseless, misleading and politically motivated. They should submit proof before a competent constitutional or judicial forum.”
