Bokaro: A team of doctors at Bokaro Sadar Hospital has removed a 5.5-kg uterine fibroid from a 52-year-old woman, officials said on Monday. The patient, a resident of Bhara Basti in Chas, underwent an abdominal hysterectomy late on Sunday.The team was led by gynaecologist Dr Rashmi Medha and included Dr Pankaj Sinha and anaesthesia specialist Dr Saurabh.“During the surgery, a huge fibroid weighing around 5.5 kilogrammes was carefully removed from the uterus. There were no major complications during the entire procedure,” Medha said. Doctors said the patient was stable and under medical observation.Bokaro Civil Surgeon Abhay Bhusan Prasad emphasised the importance of timely medical consultation for women facing gynaecological issues, warning that untreated large fibroids can lead to severe health complications.
