Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has announced extensive traffic diversions and a complete ban on the entry of heavy vehicles in the city on July 16 in view of the Jagannath Rath Yatra festivities.Acting on the joint directions of deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan and senior superintendent of police Ehtesham Waqarib, traffic police have put in place a detailed traffic management plan to ensure the smooth conduct of the procession and minimize inconvenience to commuters.According to the arrangements, entry of heavy vehicles into the city will remain completely prohibited from 2 pm to 11 pm. Normal movement of vehicles will resume after the procession concludes.The administration has also ordered complete closure of both sides of the Bistupur-Sakchi Boulevard Road, from Voltas Roundabout to the N-Road traffic signal and up to Bistupur police station, during the procession.Vehicles travelling from Voltas Building towards Sakchi will be diverted through Kharkai Link Road, Maila Tanki, Tulsi Bhawan, Dhatkidih TOP, Loyola traffic signal and Jubilee Park. Vehicles heading towards Jugsalai from Sakchi will follow the same route.Traffic coming from Golmuri towards Sakchi or Bistupur will be diverted via JNAC Chowk and Karim City College roundabout. Vehicles travelling from Mango towards Bistupur and Jugsalai will be routed through Marine Drive.In Mango, vehicles approaching from Sakchi will be diverted through Mango police station road to Pardih Chowk when the procession moves from Bada Hanuman Mandir via Mango Chowk towards Dimna Chowk. Likewise, traffic approaching Dimna Chowk will be diverted towards Pardih Chowk when the procession proceeds from Dimna Chowk through Transport Nagar to Rajasthan Bhawan.Traffic DSP Sriniraj Kumar said, “A large number of devotees participate in the festival due to which diversions and restrictions are in place to ensure hassle-free movement of both the procession and regular traffic.“
