Dhanbad: A youth, armed with a ‘made in USA’-marked pistol and loaded with three cartridges, was arrested for allegedly planning a serious criminal offence, police said on Thursday.DSP (Law and Order) Prakash Soy said, “Acting on a tip-off received around 7:30 pm on July 15 that two armed youths were conspiring to commit a major crime near an abandoned house at Bhuchungtand, a special team was formed on the instructions of SSPolice Prabhat Kumar.”“As the police approached the spot near the eight-lane Hirak Road, both suspects attempted to flee. During the chase, one of them, identified as Monu Kumar Yadav, fell and was overpowered by the police, while his accomplice escaped in the darkness,” he added.During interrogation, Monu allegedly identified his absconding associate as Chirkut Sanjay, a resident of East Basuria. A search operation has been launched to apprehend him. Monu was jailed in 2025 in an Arms Act case. A case was registered with Bhuli police outpost under relevant sections of the Arms Act, police added.
