Times News NetworkHazaribag: Sadar MLA Pradip Prasad on Monday intervened on behalf of traders supplying purified drinking water in jars to households after they complained of being burdened by multiple taxes imposed by the Hazaribag Municipal Corporation (HMC).During a public grievance hearing at his office, representatives of the water suppliers’ association alleged that the demand for various taxes was creating hurdles in the smooth operation of their businesses.Taking cognisance of the issue, Prasad accompanied the traders to meet Hazaribag Municipal Commissioner Om Prakash Gupta and apprised him of their concerns. The MLA said businesses providing clean drinking water through doorstep delivery should not face unnecessary difficulties or administrative obstacles.Following the meeting, Gupta directed the officials to examine the matter and assured the delegation that no trader would be subjected to any tax demand that was unnecessary or contrary to rules. He said the issue would be investigated and resolved in accordance with the applicable provisions.Prasad said prompt redressal of public grievances was one of his priorities and that he would continue to work towards resolving issues affecting the people of Hazaribag.
