Ranchi: Police on Tuesday exhumed the body of a 50-year-old woman from a burial ground in the city’s Doranda area, in the presence of an executive magistrate, after receiving information about the woman being murdered, which initially looked like an accidental death. The woman, identified as Nahida Parveen, a resident of Manitola locality in Doranda, was allegedly murdered by her 18-year-old adopted daughter, her boyfriend and one of his friends on Saturday, police said. “However, the daughter covered the death up as an accidental one, saying that her mother fell in the bathroom, where she sustained injuries leading to her death. She was then buried by her family members following religious rituals on Sunday, with no immediate suspicion of foul play at the time,” Ranchi city SP Paras Rana told TOI.The case took a dramatic turn on Monday night when police received information from members of the deceased’s family expressing doubts about the circumstances of her death. “Police interrogated the daughter after receiving the information, during which she initially tried to make up a story of the forced entry of three boys into her home and killing her mother in front of her. Later, after rigorous questioning, she admitted to killing her mother along with her boyfriend and one of his friends,” Rana added. The SP said that the daughter killed her mother for not giving her money.“The victim had around Rs 40-50 lakh fixed deposit in her name, and the daughter was the nominee of the deposit. She recently sold off the deposits, and her daughter was asking for the money, and when she refused to give the money to the daughter, she plotted the whole conspiracy,” SP Rana said.Following the confession, police arrested the adopted daughter from Ranchi, while her boyfriend and his associate were nabbed from Bihar on Tuesday. Police exhumed the body from the burial site and sent it to Rims for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
