Koderma Elephant Attack: Man Critically Injured, Poultry Farm Damaged

Koderma: A 35-year-old man was critically injured after being attacked by an elephant on Friday night. Upendra Saw, an employee at Shivam Hotel, a roadside eatery, in Pathaldiha area under Koderma police station limits, was sleeping when he was attacked by the pachyderm. Upendra was hurt in his leg and other parts of the body. Unable to fetch an ambulance, locals took him to the sadar hospital on a motorbike. The doctors then referred him to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi for further treatment.The elephant also damaged a poultry farm nearby. Hussain Arif, the farm owner, said he incurred substantial losses in the incident.The attack was the latest in a string man-elephant conflicts in the district. In a span of 10 days, three people were killed in the district.
