GUMLA: An 18-years-old boy was arrested on charges of for raping (un- natural) an 2-and-half-years-old girl child in a Gumla village. The heinous crime was committed on Saturday evening, police said on Monday. The accused was arrested on Sunday and sent to jail after his medical examination while the victims medical examination was conducted both on Sunday and Monday, police said. On Tuesday statement of the victim along with her mother will be recorded as the victim is able to speak, police said.Detailing the incidence OC of Ghaghra police station Mohan Kumar Singh said,” The incident occurred on Saturday evening and a panchayat sat on Sunday. We came to know through some reports that the crime was tried to suppress. But the victim’s s mother denied this saying since the crime is heinous, the accused must be punished.”“However I sought a magistrate probe from the DSO Gumla. Following this a committee was formed comprising CO Ghagra as the magistrate, representatives from the child welfare committee (CWC) and a para legal volunter (PLV) of the district legal services authority ( DLSA)The committe will visit the spot to probe the matter on Tuesday,” the OC said.Meanwhile the district administration has also constituted a committee to inquire and report.The DLSA is keeping close eyes on this case while the CWC too is learnt to standing with victim side and inquiry.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
