Ranchi: Two men were arrested from West Bengal on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old dentist at a birthday party in Ranchi on April 9.The survivor had filed an FIR earlier in the day. Police said the woman had gone to attend the birthday celebration of a friend at an apartment where she was allegedly sexually assaulted by two of the host’s friends after being intoxicated.DSP (city) K V Raman told TOI, “The duo, who absconded after committing the crime, were brought on transit remand to Ranchi after being arrested in Kharagpur on Tuesday. Police will thoroughly investigate the matter and question both accused.”He added, “Further details of the crime will be revealed after the accused are interrogated.”“We registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the survivor’s statement. Her medical examination has been conducted. In her statement, the survivor alleged that she was assaulted after being intoxicated at the party, and then raped,” said inspector Rupesh Kumar Singh.The survivor, who hailed from another city, had been preparing for the entrance test of MDS.
