Ranchi: Twenty-five block development officers (BDOs) recieved their official vehicles from rural development minister Deepika Pandey Singh on Thursday. Singh said the new vehicles will help strengthen field inspections, continuous monitoring of schemes and quicker grievance resolution.Similar number of vehicles will be provided to the remaining BDOs, officials said. Urging the BDOs to work with sensitivity and accountability, Singh said, “Govt is trying to provide appropriate resources to increase your efficiency.”

Singh said officers currently have major responsibilities, including SIR, implementation of the PESA law in scheduled areas among others. Referring to the 15th Finance Commission, she said Rs 2,250 crore has reached panchayats from the Centre, and panchayats must increase their own income sources.
