Dumka: Nine persons suffered jolts after a tazia came in contact with a high-tension power line during a Muharram procession in Kusumdih village in Deoghar district on Friday.Witnesses said the procession was moving from the village towards the fairground when the tazia touched an overhead electric wire near a shop, flinging several people carrying the tazia to the ground and sparking chaos as participants rushed to rescue the injured.Locals immediately shifted all the injured to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for treatment. Razaul Ansari, 25, sustained serious burn injuries.Doctors said his condition improved after primary treatment, and he is out of danger. The remaining injured were discharged after preliminary treatment, officers and residents said.Former village head Dinesh Mandal visited the hospital and spoke to doctors to ensure proper treatment for the injured. Many residents urged caution around overhead electric lines, especially when tall ceremonial structures are carried through narrow village routes.
