Ranchi: Distribution of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state has crossed the 2-crore mark, even as the digitisation of forms remains sluggish in several urban centres compared with rural areas.State chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar acknowledged that digitisation was low in some urban pockets, particularly in the capital city. He said booth-level officers (BLOs) are facing challenges in urban areas where the number of absent, shifted, dead or duplicate (ASDD) voters is comparatively higher. He said steps are being taken to speed up the exercise. The form distribution milestone was achieved on Friday evening, Kumar added.Data available with the CEO’s office till 6 pm on Saturday highlighted the urban-rural disparity. In Ranchi district’s Tamar assembly constituency, 92.11% of enumeration forms were distributed and 28.2% digitised. In contrast, Ranchi assembly constituency recorded only 45.02% distribution and 8.36% digitisation. Similarly, Silli constituency reported 93.7% distribution and 30.02% digitisation.A similar trend was visible in Dhanbad district. In Tundi assembly constituency, 82.64% of forms were distributed and 21.44% digitised, while Dhanbad assembly constituency recorded 57.31% distribution and 7.86% digitisation.Officials said the figures indicate that while form distribution is progressing rapidly, digitisation of collected data requires closer monitoring in urban areas.Ranchi deputy commissioner and district election officer Manjunath Bhajantri said BLOs are finding it difficult to trace houses in city localities, affecting the pace of digitisation. He added that instances of negligence by some BLOs have also come to light, and a list of such personnel has been sought from electoral registration officers (EROs).Bhajantri on Friday warned that negligence at any level in SIR work would not be tolerated and that action would be taken against erring officers and employees as per rules.
