Daltonganj: A 55-year-old man and his 32-year-old son were killed after being struck by lightning in Palamu district late on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Balmukund Yadav and his son, Dilip.They were returning to their home in Purushottampur village, under Panki police station limits, from a village haat at Tetraiyn Mangalwari, where they had gone to sell vegetables.“The duo was travelling on a motorcycle when they were struck by lightning,” said Deepak Kumar Singh, officer-in charge of Panki police station. “The saddest part is that they were barely 150 metres from their home when the fatal lightning strike occurred,” Singh said. Their two-wheeler, however, was not damaged by the lightning.A case of unnatural death was registered, and post-mortem examinations were conducted at Medinirai Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday, police said.
