Ranchi: BJP president Nitin Nabin began his two-visit to Jharkhand on Saturday ahead of the ensuing Rajya Sabha polls in the state. Nabin, who made his first visit to the state since assuming office, said Ranchi was his second home as he spent his early years in the city.BJP MPs, MLAs and office-bearers gave him a grand welcome at the airport. Nabin began his visit by paying tributes to the statue of Birsa Munda. Later, he held a series of meetings through the day with core committee members and office-bearers of the state unit, focussing on organisational matters and the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Members of NDA constituents also met him separately.BJP general secretary Amar Kumar Bauri said, “The visit is significant as it will pump fresh energy among all workers of the state unit. The visit will also help in further strengthening the party at all levels.” Party insiders said Nabin, in his meeting with NDA allies Ajsu party and JDU, discussed potential Rajya Sabha candidate.
Should the BJP prioritize strengthening its organizational structure in Jharkhand?
The saffron party, which announced contesting in the election, is yet to name its candidate. However, party functionary Gourav Vallabh, reached Ranchi on Saturday and purchased nomination paper. The nomination window will close on June 8.BJP veteran and Ranchi MLA C P Singh said renewed focus on organisational strength will help the party return to office in Jharkhand. “We are hopeful that the BJP will form the govt in Jharkhand in 2029. The visit will lay the ground works for that,” he said. Later in the evening, Nabin also held a meeting with select intellectuals of the city.
