Ranchi: The All India Students Association (AISA) and the police on Monday tussled with each other on the road as the students’ wing marched towards the Lok Bhavan to protest against the NEET paper leak, restructuring of universities and other student-related issues. The union demanded resignation of Union education minister Dharmedra Pradhan over the leak, withdrawal of curriculum restructuring in the state universities and an end to privatisation of education. The march began from Zila (district) School and proceeded towards Lok Bhavan. Police tried to stop them at two places, but the protestors marched after jostling with the security personnel.Near the Lok Bhavan, they sat on a dharna and later submitted a memorandum at the Governor’s office.AISA state president Vibha Pushpa Deep said, “The restructuring of curriculum in universities restricts the choice of subjects for students. The system would also make it difficult for students from rural areas, tribal communities and the women to pursue higher education and also increase dropouts. This system should be abolished immediately.”The AISA members further demanded that in view of the paper leak during the competitive examinations held by central and state agencies, a strict law should be implemented for punishment of culprits involved in such activities. They alleged that the NationalTestingAgency has failed to conduct transparent and responsible examinations.
