Babulal seeks JPSC chairman’s ouster

Ranchi: Leader of opposition Babulal Marandi on Monday sought the ouster of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman after two subjects of Jharkhand Eligibility (JET) Test -2024 were cancelled owing to lapses in Ranchi and Bokaro a day earlier.Marandi urged chief minister Hemant Soren to overhaul JPSC and claimed the commission had turned into a “den of corrupt and incompetent officials”. “The condition of competitive examinations in the state is continuously deteriorating. Serious flaws that have emerged in the JET-2024 conducted by JPSC, raising questions over the credibility of the entire process,” he said.He also demanded that CM take action against the guilty. “We have been demanding it since long — replace the Chairman to save the sanctity of the exams and identify all those responsible for the regular lapses,” Marandi said. JPSC chairman L Khiangte or deputy examination controller Sweta Gupta couldn’t be reached for comments despite several attemptsNotably, JPSC cancelled exams for two subjects of owing to shortage of question papers and readability issues reported at two centres in Bokaro and Ranchi respectively. JET is conducted to shortlist candidates for the posts of college and university teachers. It is still to notify fresh dates for reconducting the exam at these centres.“Besides late reaching of question paper, it also came to light that the same question was being asked twice from a passage in the English, and an option was missing from one question, indicating that the conduct of the examination is not being taken seriously. This is a worrying trend,” he claimed in a statement.
