Voters in this ward will elect their corporator as part of the larger BMC election process, which determines the civic leadership of Mumbai for the next five years.

In the previous Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections held in 2017, Ward 61 was won by Rajul Suresh Patel of Shivsena. The winning candidate had secured 10043 votes, registering a victory margin of 5766 votes over the nearest rival.
