Campaign to test marksmanship of cops in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: Deputy commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan and SSP Prabhat Kumar inaugurated the annual firing proficiency and marksmanship campaign at the firing range of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-3 behind the Bhuinfod temple here on Saturday. Ranjan and Kumar demonstrated the shooting skills at the range along with senior officers. The training is aimed at enhancing operational readiness of of police personnel, DC said.Ranjan reviewed the condition of the firing range and directed officials to improve its infrastructure. The campaign will go on till June 30, SSP said. As many as 2,586 police officers and jawans will participate in the campaign. During the campaign, they will be required to fire from multiple positions. The exercise includes training on INSAS rifles, carbines, AK-47 rifles, pistols, and other modern firearmsSSP said live-fire practice helps personnel overcome fear of recoil and improves breathing control, trigger discipline, and shooting techniques. Each participant’s performance will be evaluated against established benchmarks, and additional training will be provided wherever necessary.sharadchandradhn@gmail.com
