Dumka: A 4.5-ft-long spectacled cobra, which had got stuck inside a rat hole at Silampur village under Maheshpur block of Pakur district after swallowing its prey on Tuesday, was rescued by forest officials.The incident occurred in the courtyard of one Asgar Sheikh. “The cobra chased the rat for quite some time. Eventually, the rat entered its hole, where the snake caught and swallowed it. However, after consuming it, the snake’s stomach expanded, leaving it unable to crawl back out of the narrow burrow,” he said.Sheikh informed villagers, who in turn alerted the forest department. A team led by forest personnel Ashraful Sheikh rushed to the spot and carefully rescued the reptile.“The snake, which is highly venomous and appears to be around 12–13 years old, was rescued and released into a nearby forest area,” the official said.
