Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Rajiv Ranjan on Friday directed the officials of drinking water and sanitation department (DWSD) and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) to prepare alternative plans to ensure seamless supply of water and electricity to the residents.The directives came as Jamshedpur and other parts of Kolhan division continued to experience sizzling temperatures in the ongoing summer season.“People should not confront water problems due to the power transmission faults. Hence, it is imperative for both departments to work in tandem and prepare back-up plans,” Ranjan said in what was his first meeting since assuming office.He asked DWSD officials to repair the faulty handpumps and water supply pipelines across the district on war footing. Directing the officials to move out of their offices, he said continuous monitoring of the implementation of public welfare schemes will help in improving governance.“Strict time frame be observed for administrative tasks, with adequate and dedicated hours allocated for public grievance redressal,” DC told the officials.He instructed the officials at the collectorate office not to leave the chamber without prior information and approval from the authorities.
