Dhanbad administration unveils plan to upgrade 464 govt schools

Dhanbad: The Dhanbad administration has announced a major education overhaul, with 464 govt schools to be developed on the model of CM Schools of Excellence.DC Aditya Ranjan unveiled the road map at a recent news conference while presenting the district’s annual report on reforms in school and higher education.Ranjan said the administration introduced a 200-point school evaluation system based on innovative, no-cost and low-cost initiatives. Schools scoring 180 or above received infrastructure support, including civil works and essential learning facilities, while others were given corrective guidance. The system improved student attendance, teacher engagement, children’s participation and healthy competition among schools.The 464 identified schools will get additional classrooms, separate toilets for boys and girls, boundary walls, playgrounds, parking areas, dining halls, multipurpose halls, benches, desks, water coolers, health kits and sports equipment.Ranjan said 59 dilapidated school buildings are being renovated, while eight unsafe structures have been shifted. The ST boys’ hostel at Tundi has been converted into ‘Kalyan Gurukul’ for free residential skill training and placement assistance.He said Dhanbad ranked among the top 10 districts in board examination results. The administration conducted two pre-board exams and honoured meritorious students before the final exams. Teachers from 21 high-performing schools were felicitated with blazers, certificates, mementoes and impact kits.Under Project Impact and Sah Prayas, schools recorded better infrastructure, sanitation, attendance, moral education and character building. More than 1,600 teachers, block resource and cluster resource persons received specialised training.The administration has shifted 130 students of Netaji Residential School to a better-equipped campus, where Netaji Bhavan is under construction. Eight staff members, including teachers, have been appointed.In higher education, 10 smart digital libraries are planned, while 4 have been approved at RS More College, BBM Inter College, Sindri College and Pandarpala-Wasseypur. Multi-skill centres are coming up at RS More College, BBMKU campus and Belgaria with assured placement support.
