K A Gupta| TNNLohardaga: Police seized around 250 litres of counterfeit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and spirit, besides liquor manufacturing equipment and packaging materials from two cargo vans on the Kudu–Champi road in Lohardaga district and arrested two persons on Monday evening, it announced on Tuesday.Acting on a tip-off received by SP Sadique Anwar Rizwi, a special team led by SDPO Shraddha Kerketta set up a vehicle-checking point at Tiko Mor on the Kudu–Champi road. Police spotted two blue cargo vans approaching from Kudu and signalled them to stop. The drivers abandoned the vehicles and tried to flee but were chased and apprehended.The arrested drivers were identified as Sudhir Kumar Sahu of Kamde village under Ratu police station in Ranchi and Prakash Lohra of Bishramgarh village under Kudu police station limits.“During the search of both the vehicles, illegal items were recovered,” said Kuru police station OC Ajit Kumar.Police suspect the materials were being used to manufacture fake liquor under the names of established brands and sell in the market. “Further probe is underway,” he said.
