Bokaro: The Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) has lodged an FIR against the operator of Amrit Park Phase III in Bokaro over alleged non-payment of dues and a bounced cheque.The case was registered against Kapil Ahmad at Pindrajora police station on the basis of a complaint filed by city manager Ram Kumar Srivastava. Ahmad was entrusted with the operation and maintenance of the park, located in ward 30, under a long-term agreement with the civic body.Additional municipal commissioner Sanjeev Kumar said the private agency was given charge of managing the park for 10 years. As per the contract, the operator was required to pay Rs 3.36 lakh annually to the corporation, with a 5% hike every year.The civic body alleged that a cheque of around Rs 4.5 lakh, submitted by the operator on July 13, 2024, bounced when presented to the bank. Officials said the operator currently owes Rs 8.55 lakh, including GST.Police said an investigation has started and further legal action will depend on the findings.The case has also brought renewed attention to the park’s tender process. Sources said the original tender was issued for 3 years but was later extended to 10 years. CMC mayor Bholu Paswan said concerns were also raised over permission given to weddings and private events at the park, allegedly not part of the original tender terms.
