Ranchi: The Ranchi office of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in eight districts, including Ranchi, on Monday and Tuesday.Isolated places in Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Chatra and Latehar districts are likely to receive heavy rain on Monday, the Met department said.“Similarly, isolated places over Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga and Latehar districts are likely to get heavy rain on Tuesday. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm, lightning and winds gusting up to 30-40 kmph at isolated places across the state on both days,” head of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, Baburaj P P, said on Sunday.The Met department said that the maximum temperature across the state is likely to witness a dip of 2-3 degrees Celsius from Tuesday till Thursday.Seraikela recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.4°C on Sunday, while Ranchi recorded 30.6°C, Jamshedpur 33°C, Daltonganj 31.6°C, Bokaro 32.1°C and Chaibasa 34.8°C.Many places across the state witnessed spells of rain on Sunday. Ranchi recorded 9.6 mm of rainfall, Jamshedpur 0.4 mm, Daltonganj 1.4 mm, Bokaro 17.4 mm and Chaibasa 5.1 mm. Similarly, Bokaro recorded 25.5 mm of rainfall, Deoghar 5 mm and Lohardaga 16 mm on Sunday.Jharkhand’s cumulative rainfall from June 1 till Sunday was 240.6 mm against a normal of 380.6 mm, a 37% deficit. Garhwa recorded the lowest rainfall of 92.6 mm against a normal of 319.8 mm during the period. Simdega received the highest rainfall of 420.6 mm against a normal of 483.9 mm, marking a 13% deficit.
