Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Thursday directed the police to ensure that a sample of the human skeleton recovered by the police in Bokaro is sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Kolkata for further examination.A division bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Sanjay Prasad, while hearing a petition filed by Rekha Devi, the mother of the missing girl, directed the laboratory in Kolkata to furnish a report whether the DNA samples of the skeleton match with Rekha and her husband within two weeks.The court also ordered the police to have the post-mortem of the skeleton done in the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi. The court was informed that the DNA test sample has already been collected from the parents of the missing Pushpa Mahto, and the skeleton found by the police which will be sent to Kolkata for further tests. On directions of the HC, the DGP, Bokaro SP and other officers had appeared before the bench. Advocate general Rajiv Ranjan informed the court that 28 police personnel of the Pindrajoda police station have been suspended by the Bokaro SP.The court in an oral observation said that officers of Pindrajoda police station was not enough. “Senior officers like DSP, SP and DIG ranked officers, who were also in charge of the case, should have been suspended as well,” the bench said. The special investigating team (SIT) which is investigating the case was also present in the court and produced documents related to the investigation.The court directed the DGP, Bokaro SP and members of the SIT to appear on the next date, which will be heard after a fortnight on receipt of the report from the forensic laboratory in Kolkata. Pushpa has been missing since July 31 last year.
