Jhasa delegation meets CS, DGP

Ranchi: A delegation of the Jharkhand Administrative Service Association’s (Jhasa) on Tuesday met with chief secretary Avinash Kumar and the director general of police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra to voice resentment against the manner Budmu circle officer (CO) Sachidanand Verma was arrested last Friday.Notably, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) had apprehended the CO in connection with the alleged bribery demand in lieu of mutation of a 3-acre and 20 decimal plot in Brambe area. The CO’s office staff Rajesh Kumar and his brother Gautam Kumar were apprehended in the same case last Thursday. In a memorandum to the CS, Jhasa president Ranjita Hembram claimed that the CO was arrested at 3 am when he was asleep in his house. “This is against the basic human rights. The ACB had neither caught the CO red-handed nor it had recovered bribery fund from his possession,” she said. The Jhasa said they does not support corruption but it would not be a silent spectator to repressive and arbitrary working of the ACB. It demanded that the CO’s name be removed from the FIR and action be taken against the guilty ACB officer. After the meeting, Jhasa general Rahul Kumar said, “The chief secretary told us that he was aware of our grievances through the media. He assured that he would do whatever possible.”
