The board was unanimous in taking new initiatives to address the municipal garbage problem of Jugsalai,” said ward member Anil Modi.Residents said that regular disposal of the municipal garbage should be the priority of the municipality and the QR code initiative is a step in the right direction.“Residents have the tendency to dispose of the garbage on roadside. Using QR code, residents can notify the municipality for immediate removal of trash ,” said Amandeep Singh, a resident of Jugsalai station road.Locals said that there are several garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) where QR code needs to be installed.Presently, with an estimated population of about 71000, around 12.58 tonnes of solid waste is collected daily in Jugsalai, as per the Swachh Bharat Mission data (2022-2025).The municipality has deployed 12 tipper vehicles to collect door-to-door garbage from 22 wards in the command limits.Notably, in the civic body polls held in February this year, the residents of Jugsalai got the opportunity to elect the municipal council members for the second time after a gap of 44 years.
