Manoj Kumar | TNNKoderma: A lower court here on Wednesday sentenced a 53-year-old woman to life imprisonment for killing his step-grandson in 2025. The convict Rekha Devi is a resident of Gajhandi under the Tilaiya police station limits.The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge – III, Rakesh Chandra, sentenced Rekha Devi to life term and fined her Rs 25,000. She would have to undergo another three months of jail term if she failed to pay the penalty.Rekha had married Manoj Yadav in 1990 after the death of his first wife. Arvind Kumar, the son of Manoj, is a truck driver. The deceased Saurabh, 4, was his elder son. Rekha was arrested based on an FIR by Poonam Devi, Arvind’s wife. In her complaint, Poonam claimed that she had gone to a nearby forest on April 12, 2025. Upon returning, she found Saurabh unconscious. The child was taken to a doctor, where he was declared dead. The body was buried in a forest area on the same day.Saurabh’s body was exhumed and sent for postmortem examination the next day. “Eight witnesses and evidence were presented by the prosecution,” public prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh said.
