Library movement kicked off to encourage reading habits among students

Sharad ChandraDhanbad: A programme titled “Pustakalaya Se Samaj Tak: Ek Pahal” was inaugurated on Saturday at the CIMFR Auditorium under the joint aegis of the national library mission, ministry of culture, Govt of India, and the department of school education and literacy, Jharkhand govt. The event was organised at Master Sobran Manjhi State Library, Dhanbad.While inaugurating the programme, DC Aditya Ranjan urged students to cultivate the habit of reading books for better concentration and personal growth. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Today, the younger generation faces many distractions, but books remain the best source of knowledge and self-development. Students regularly visit libraries to stay focused on their goals and strengthen their personalities.Highlighting the importance of libraries, the DC informed that 10 modern smart libraries are being developed in Dhanbad along with a digital library equipped with all modern facilities except internet access. He said these libraries would provide students with a peaceful and productive learning environment.Motivating students, Ranjan advised them not to lose hope after failures and continue making sincere efforts. “Failure teaches something new every time. One must assess daily progress and continue struggling in life to move ahead,” he added.CIMFR director A K Mishra described books as the best companions of human beings. He warned students against being misled by unreliable social media content and stressed the timeless relevance of libraries.District education officer (DEO) Abhishek Jha said the Master Sobran Manjhi State Library has a seating capacity for 300 readers and houses over 57,000 books along with Wi-Fi and CCTV facilities.Later, the DC and CIMFR director also flagged off an awareness chariot titled “Chalo Chale Pustakalaya” to encourage students to connect with libraries.
