Bokaro: A special Pocso court on Tuesday sentenced a 39-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter in Jan 2024.Additional district and sessions judge-III, Devesh Kumar Tripathi, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two years of imprisonment.Special public prosecutor Ravishankar Choudhary said the man lured the girl away from her home to nearby bushes, where he brutally assaulted and raped her on Jan 21, 2024. She sustained severe injuries and the crime was brought to light by her mother.“To establish the prosecution’s case, seven witnesses, including the survivor, her mother, the doctor and the investigating officer, were recorded in court,” he said, adding that the medical officer’s testimony and forensic findings played a crucial role in proving the allegations beyond doubt.
The court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict
