Maoist Ravindra Ganjhu arrested in Jharkhand’s Latehar

Ranchi: CPI (Maoist) regional committee member Ravindra Ganjhu, who carried a reward of Rs 18 lakh on his head, was arrested from Chandwa area of Latehar district, police said on Monday. He was wanted in 154 cases, including murders of security personnel, police said.Jharkhand police spokesperson Narendra Singh said an AK-47 rifle was seized from the Maoist.Police said a reward of Rs 15 lakh by the state govt and Rs 3 lakh by the National Investigation Agency was announced for information leading to his arrest.Police said that Ganjhu was involved in the murder of four police personnel in an attack on a patrolling party in Lukiaya village on Nov 22, 2019. Ganjhu was also part of the Maoist team that ambushed security forces in Katia village, in which 12 personnel were killed and 14 were injured.Police further stated that Ganjhu was involved in triggering IEDs on Feb 10, 2022, in Bulbul village of Lohardaga district, which injured havildar Narayan Das. Two days later, Maoists, including Ganjhu, again exploded an IED during an encounter with police, injuring constable Toman Kumar. Ganjhu was also accused of planting an IED that exploded, killing villager Sakita Devi in Lohardaga district.
