Dhanbad: A 65-year-old woman, who was missing for 20 years and presumed dead, is set to be reunited with her family again.Kabli Devi, a resident of Daldali village under Chururia panchayat in Purvi Tundi block, disappeared around 20 years ago. Her family searched for her extensively but failed to trace her. Then, believing she had died, her husband Raju Hembrom married again.Kabli, who left home after a family dispute, boarded a train from Dhanbad and eventually reached Kozhikode in Kerala. There, she was rescued and admitted to a govt-run women’s shelter and was looked after by an organisation caring for mentally challenged and destitute persons.A breakthrough came earlier this year when Shivanmunathil, a police inspector in Kerala, traced her native place. Working with shelter authorities, the inspector contacted the district administration.District social welfare officer Sneha Kashyap said the call came in the first week of June. Soon, a team comprising district child protection unit counsellor Madan Mohan Mahta and One Stop Centre staffer Aarti Kumari was formed. “The team travelled to Kerala from June 23 to June 28, completed legal and administrative formalities, and safely brought Kabli back to Dhanbad,” Kashyap said.Currently at the One Stop Centre in Dhanbad, Kabli is waiting to be reunited with her children, a son and daughter, both married and living in Tundi, on Thursday.
