Ranchi: A major section of NEET-UG aspirants in Ranchi welcomed the cancellation of the test following allegations of question paper leak, calling it a correct decision that would ensure justice for genuine students. For many students, the decision has brought both disappointment and relief. Sumit Surav, an aspirant who appeared from Ranchi, said he had scored 695 marks out of 720 and was hoping for admission to a good college.
“Now I have to prepare for the exam all over again. However, with the question paper leak, a large number of aspirants benefited unfairly. The cut-off marks would have been scaled up under the circumstances,” he said.Another student, Samir Jaffer, who scored 630, said she was confident of a govt college seat. “It is a bittersweet experience. Years of hard work has not been rewarded. However, I would make efforts to improve my performance in the re-test,” she said.Jaswant Kumar, from Hazaribag, said that with a score of 541 he was certain of getting admission under the reserved category.Pankaj Singh, head of a leading coaching institute, said students had mixed responses to the decision.“Many of them had informed about their performance and prospects only to learn that the test has been cancelled,” he said.
