Ranchi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has okayed the construction of a flyover at Ichak on the busy Barhi-Hazaribag stretch of NH-33.The project, which also includes the development of slip roads on the Hazaribag bypass, is expected to provide a new dimension to regional connectivity and significantly reduce travel time. Estimated at a cost of Rs 53.83 crore, NHAI has given a strict mandate to the implementing agency to complete the work within 18 months.The initiative aims to streamline the heavy traffic flow on the crucial Ranchi-Patna route. Currently, the stretch between Ichak and Barhi is notorious for its bottleneck congestion and a high frequency of road mishaps. By introducing the flyover and dedicated service lanes, the NHAI intends to eliminate these black spots and ensure a seamless transit experience for commuters.NHAI officials have emphasised that there will be no compromise on quality standards during the execution phase. Beyond just easing traffic, the project is poised to act as a catalyst for industrial and social growth by accelerating economic activities in the surrounding regions.
