Ranchi: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognisance of four students being allegedly bitten by a snake at a residential school’s hostel in Lohardaga district, resulting in the death of a girl, it said in a statement on Monday. All the students were asleep when the incident occurred on July 7.In a statement, NHRC said that the notice was issued to the chief secretary, seeking a detailed report on the matter within two weeks from the receipt of the communique.“The commission has observed that the contents of the reports raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the students. Therefore, it has issued notice to the state chief secretary for a detailed report on the matter along with the health status of the injured,” read the notice.
