Pre-SIR drive: Over 5 lakh voters mapped in a week
A total of 75.19% of voters have been mapped so far, the CEO’s office said

Ranchi: State chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Saturday said that names of more than 5 lakh voters have been mapped in the first week after the release of the unmapped list.The process of mapping voters is underway in the state ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, and it gained momentum after the list of unmapped voters was published in a searchable format at all polling stations in the state and on the CEO’s website on May 23, Kumar said.A total of 75.19% of voters have been mapped so far, and the work will be carried out by the booth level officers (BLOs) till June 15. In terms of numbers, a total of 5,14,546 voters have been mapped and the current number of mapped voters stands at 19,915,463, a statement from CEO’s office said.A meeting has been convened on Tuesday with the district election officers to accelerate the mapping of unmapped voters and for capacity building of those BLOs in whose areas mapping has been low, it added.The total number of voters in Jharkhand as per the earlier list is 26,487,833. The previous SIR in the state was carried out in 2003.
