Debasish.ChatterjeeJamshedpur: In a surprise late-night inspection on Wednesday, West Singhbhum deputy commissioner (DC) Manish Kumar visited the Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa to review healthcare services, infrastructure and patient care, while directing officials to address deficiencies on priority.The DC inspected the newly constructed hospital ward, emergency unit and blood bank, assessing the quality of facilities available to patients. During his interaction with patients and their attendants in the emergency ward, Kumar sought feedback on treatment and the availability of medical services.Taking note of the prevailing humid weather, the DC instructed civil surgeon Dr Jujhar Manjhi to ensure installation of additional fans and air-conditioners in wards wherever required. He said, “Every patient admitted to the hospital should receive timely treatment and all essential medical facilities without inconvenience.”Kumar also inspected the blood bank, where he reviewed its functioning, availability of blood units and maintenance standards. He directed officials to maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure that blood is made available to needy patients without delay.Referring to the district administration’s Project Jagriti, under which voluntary blood donation drives are being organised regularly, Kumar said, “The initiative had significantly strengthened blood availability in the district.” He noted that the blood bank’s infrastructure had improved considerably over the past few months and said additional equipment would be procured shortly to further enhance its capacity and ensure that no patient suffers due to shortage of blood.—-PIC—Debasish ChatterjeeWest Singhbhum DC Manish Kumar takes stock of health facility at Sadar hospital in Chaibasa
